Today we were lucky to be part of the official welcome and 'handing over' of our new principal, Mr Geerlofs, from his previous school, East Otago High. We followed maori protocol, with speeches, waiata, haka and the leaders had a hongi at the end (before sharing kai!). Kaikorai Valley College rose to the occasion, as we always do, with the singing and respect shown to our visitors just top notch - well done everybody!
8FL also welcomed two teacher trainees this week, Mr Ahern and Miss Ng, from the University of Otago College of Education. They will be with us for two weeks, teaching some English, Drama and Dance. This is their first time with this age group, so it is a lot of new learning for them. Welcome - we are glad to have you here.
